The Bublcam crosses over into many industries including general and professional photography, action sports, real estate, travel, gaming, chatting and more. Our challenge was to reach out to the press in as many different industries as possible ... all within a month. Starting at $399, the Bublcam is more expensive than most products, so another goal was to get the press to focus on the features rather than on the price.
We have a network of over 1.9 million journalists. We reached out to our contacts, targeting key journalists across all of the different media outlets: Newspapers, Magazines, Cable News, Digital News, Newswires, Journals, Radio Stations, TV Networks, Syndicated Columns and Blogs. We used a 7 sentence email pitch that was short and sweet, yet focused on what made the Bublcam incredibly unique.
It all started with a bang! We reached out to our contacts at Engadget and Techcrunch and landed them write-ups that appeared on the day the project launched. We kept reaching out and the press kept rolling in. We generated all of the press for the bublcam ... over 500 different features including write-ups in top tier outlets like Fast Company, the Huffington Post, Gigamom, Mashable and tons more.
Within 8 hours of launching, sales for the bublcam soared to $100,000. In the first month, sales hit $346,122. The successful launch paved the way for a $4.6 million round of VC funding.
